Cookie Policy
This page lists the cookies rapidsneakers.com sets, what each one is for, how long it lasts, and what you can do about them. It covers this webshop only.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. It lets the site remember things between page loads: what is in your cart, whether you are signed in, which language you chose. Session cookies disappear when you close the browser. Persistent ones stay for a set period until they expire or you delete them.
Which cookies we set
This shop runs on Shopify. The necessary and analytics cookies below are set by the Shopify platform, except rs_lang and rs_lang_try, which our own site stores in your browser, and the _ga cookies, which Google sets. The marketing cookies are set by Meta, TikTok, Google and Shopify, and only if you allow them. What these companies receive is explained in our privacy policy, under "Advertising and measurement".
Necessary
These keep the shop working. Without them you cannot fill a cart, sign in, or check out, so they are always active.
- _shopify_essential: keeps your session and checkout together across pages (1 year)
- cart: remembers what you put in your cart (3 months)
- cart_currency: remembers the currency you are shopping in (up to 3 months)
- localization: remembers your country and language (1 year)
- rs_lang (stored by our own site in your browser's local storage): remembers which language to open the shop in when you come back, and whether it came from your browser's language settings, from the pages you last read, or from your own choice in the language selector (until you clear your browser data)
- rs_lang_try (stored by our own site in your browser's local storage): notes when the shop last switched your language automatically, so this happens at most once every 15 seconds and never gets stuck in a loop (until you clear your browser data)
- shopify_pay: signs you in to Shop Pay when you come back to checkout (1 year)
- login_with_shop_finalize, __Host-Http-shop_binding: sign you in with Shop when you choose to (5 minutes, 3 hours)
- _shop_app_essential (set by Shop on shop.app): keeps the Shop sign-in working on this shop (1 year)
- discount_code: keeps a discount code from a link until checkout (until you close the browser)
- _shopify_test: checks whether your browser accepts cookies (1 minute)
Analytics
Shopify's built-in analytics tells us how many people visited, which pages they looked at, and where they came from. We read it as totals, not to identify anyone. If you allow analytics or marketing cookies, the Google tag also measures which visits and purchases come from Google Shopping and Google ads. Judge.me, our product-reviews app, also has a measuring tool here that only runs if you allow analytics cookies. When you complete an order, it can tell Judge.me whether you came to the shop through one of our reviews or used them. Our reviews are not shown on the shop yet, so for now it stores and sends nothing.
- _shopify_analytics: holds analytics data for the shop and the checkout (1 year)
- _ga, _ga_2W2FMQ0R79 (Google): recognise your browser and your visit, so Google can measure which visits and purchases come from Google Shopping or a Google ad (up to 2 years after your last visit)
Marketing
These are only set if you allow marketing cookies. They let Meta, TikTok, Google and Shopify link your visit and purchase to an ad, measure our ads and decide who sees them.
- _fbp, _fbc (Meta): recognise your browser and the Meta ad you clicked (90 days)
- _ttp, ttcsid, ttclid (TikTok): recognise your browser, your visit and the TikTok ad you clicked (13 months after your last visit)
- _gcl_au, _gcl_aw, _gcl_gs (Google): link your visit and purchase to a Google ad (90 days)
- _shopify_marketing (Shopify): holds marketing data for the shop and the checkout (1 year)
Meta, TikTok and Google can also read cookies on their own websites, such as facebook.com, tiktok.com and google.com, for example when you are signed in there. Those cookies are theirs, and their own policies cover them. Google lists its advertising cookies at business.safety.google/adscookies.
What we do not use
We do not use Google Analytics: no Google Analytics account is connected to this shop. The _ga cookies listed above come from the Google tag, which sets them only if you allow analytics cookies. We have added no tracking tools beyond the ones named on this page. If we add one, this page and our privacy policy change before it goes live.
Payment providers
When you pay, your payment provider may set its own cookies to process and secure the transaction. Those cookies are theirs, not ours, and their own privacy statement covers them.
Your choices
In every country we deliver to, a cookie banner appears on your first visit and asks before anything beyond the necessary cookies is set.
To change a choice you already made, click "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page. The banner opens again and you can switch analytics and marketing cookies on or off. Withdrawing your consent is as easy as giving it. Or email info@paarline.com and we will handle it.
You can also block or delete cookies yourself:
- Chrome: Settings, Privacy and security, Third-party cookies
- Firefox: Settings, Privacy & Security, Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings, Privacy
- Edge: Settings, Cookies and site permissions
Blocking the necessary cookies will break the cart and the checkout.
Do Not Track
Browsers can send a Do Not Track signal, but there is no agreed standard for how a site should answer it, so we do not act on it. Your cookie choice and your browser settings are what we go by.
Personal data
How we handle personal data is covered in our privacy policy.
